Enterprise Integration Across an Aged Care Technology Ecosystem

Connected aged care CMS, pharmacy data, identity providers, and operational systems into a unified integration architecture for a multi-state group across 25 facilities.

The Challenge

A multi-state aged care group operated disconnected systems—resident management, rostering, payroll, finance, clinical documentation, and quality reporting—with no consistent identity layer. Manual data transfers caused errors, delayed NQIP reporting, and significant operational overhead. Integrations with aged care CMS platforms, pharmacy data for mandatory indicators, and enterprise identity (Okta and Azure AD) were required without a cohesive architecture.

Our Approach

We designed an event-driven integration architecture using REST APIs, Azure Service Bus, and standardised data contracts. Integration services connected eCase-class aged care CMS platforms, pharmacy data sources for NACMQIP workflows, and enterprise identity through Okta and Azure AD—with retry policies, dead-letter handling, facility mapping, and comprehensive observability across all connected platforms.

Outcomes

  • Eliminated 90% of manual data reconciliation across clinical and operational systems
  • Integrated aged care CMS, pharmacy, and identity platforms into a cohesive data flow
  • Reduced integration-related incidents by 75% in the first six months
  • Established a scalable integration foundation supporting future system acquisitions
